Disclaimer

ESP-KVM is free, open-source software. I write it in my spare time and give it away under the Apache License 2.0. Please read this before you flash it or rely on it.

No warranty

The firmware, the web flasher, the tools and everything on this site are provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. There is no promise that it works, keeps working, or works on your board.

No liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the author and contributors are not liable for any damage or loss that comes from using, or not being able to use, ESP-KVM or anything on this site. That includes, without limit: damaged or bricked boards and other hardware, damage to the computers you connect it to, lost or corrupted data, downtime, security breaches, and any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential loss. You use it entirely at your own risk.

Hardware

  • Flashing replaces what is on a board. Wiring it to a computer’s front-panel header, power pins or USB ports is done at your own risk.
  • Some boards are configured from the vendor’s schematic and have never been run by anyone; they are marked “untested”. Pin maps, cable advice and measurements on this site come from the units I or other users had, and your board may differ.
  • The power and reset controls press real buttons on a real machine. A forced power-off can lose data on that machine.

Security

An IP-KVM gives whoever reaches it the keyboard, screen and power button of another computer. ESP-KVM has not had an independent security audit. Keep it on a network you trust or behind a VPN, change the default password, and keep it updated. Putting it on the open internet is your decision and your responsibility.

Not for critical use

Do not use ESP-KVM where a failure could cause injury, death, or serious damage to property or the environment - for example in medical, industrial control, safety or critical-infrastructure systems.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for having the right to control the computers you connect ESP-KVM to, and for following the laws that apply where you use it, including those on privacy, recording and monitoring.

Information on this site

Guides, comparisons, measurements and blog posts are written in good faith and can be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Product names and trademarks belong to their owners. ESP-KVM is not affiliated with or endorsed by Espressif, Waveshare, Geekworm, M5Stack or any other maker named here. Links to other sites and services (GitHub, Tailscale, Telegram and others) are given for convenience; I do not control them.

This site

The web flasher downloads firmware images from the project’s GitHub releases straight into your browser; nothing is uploaded from your board. This site uses Google Analytics to count visits and installs. The firmware itself sends no telemetry.
